At the beginning of our three-day adventure, we arrive at the Drava Story Visitor Centre, located in the heart of UNESCO’s Mura-Drava-Danube Transboundary Biosphere Reserve. In this enchanting setting, we explore the natural beauty of the area through a guided tour of the Centre and its park. We enjoy a bike ride along the Drava River, followed by a canoe excursion, offering the perfect opportunity for birdwatching and peaceful immersion in nature.

After an exciting morning, we indulge in a well-deserved lunch in the idyllic surroundings of the Višnjica Rural Estate, where local specialities, prepared with the utmost care and love, await us.

We then continue to Virovitica, where we explore cultural landmarks such as the magnificent Pejačević Castle and its charming park, as well as the City Museum, home to a wealth of historical and cultural treasures.

Next, we visit the Virovitica Vineyard, where we savour top-quality wines and exquisite local cuisine in the welcoming and intimate atmosphere of the Apolitico Winery. At the end of the day, we retire to the historic Janković Castle for a relaxing night’s stay.

The second day begins with breakfast, after which we set off for Voćin to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Voćin. Here, we delve into the spiritual, historical, and cultural significance of this important pilgrimage site, while its striking architecture and beautifully maintained park leave us in awe.

After this inspiring visit, we continue our journey towards the Geo-info Centre, where we are introduced to the fascinating world of geology and the natural heritage of UNESCO’s Papuk Geopark. Interactive exhibits and multimedia displays reveal the stories of ancient volcanoes, fossils, and unique geological formations.

We then arrive at Jankovac Forest Park, the jewel of Papuk, where we explore the Count’s educational trail, admire the waterfalls, and breathe in the fresh mountain air. A themed lunch, “Wood on the table”, at the Jankovac Mountain Lodge perfectly complements this experience, combining authentic flavours with the harmony of nature. In Slatina, we visit the Slatina Sequoia and the Homeland Museum, which immerse us in the local history and natural wonders of the region. The journey then leads us to Cabuna, where we explore Grandfather’s Mill, a place that preserves the heritage of traditional milling and echoes the stories of times gone by. In the evening, we arrive at Restaurant Nostro in Virovitica, where we enjoy a warm atmosphere and a carefully curated menu, further deepening our connection to local traditions.

At the end of the day, we return to Janković Castle for a well-earned rest, reflecting on the rich history, nature, and culture of Virovitica-Podravina County.

On the third and final day, after breakfast and check-out, we head to Križnica. Here, we enjoy the unique experience of crossing the Drava River, either by traditional raft or via a suspended pedestrian bridge. A short break along the river provides the perfect opportunity to relax and absorb the tranquillity of nature.

We then continue to Dravska Iža, where we savour a delicious lunch before travelling to Grabrovnica to visit the Interpretation Centre: House of Petar Preradović. This cultural gem takes us on a journey through the life and works of one of Croatia’s greatest poets. Our tour concludes with a visit to Vineda Winery in Vukosavljevica, where we enjoy a tasting of premium white, red, and rosé wines. Filled with joy, new experiences, and cherished memories, we depart for home, enriched by this unforgettable journey.
